Trauma-Informed Tech explores how technology can both perpetuate harm and help in the healing of trauma. The podcast explores themes related to design, engineering, AI, unintended consequences, and social justice. Our content is separated into different seasons that revolve around a central theme. Our first season focuses on what trauma is, what trauma-informed practices are, and how these apply to computing.
This podcast is ran by me, Amanda Baughan, a PhD candidate at the University of Washington. My formal background is in Computer Science & Engineering, and Human-Computer Interaction specifically. I study how people use the internet, and how it impacts their mental health and relationships. I started this podcast to combine my two passions: technology and the healing of trauma.
Some of the content we discuss on our podcast may be uncomfortable, heavy, or triggering. I will provide content warnings where needed. Please take care when listening, and consult a mental healthcare provider if needed.
